Well, June is just around the corner. Guess who's a June baby? ---> ME! :)
For the past few years, I have been celebrating my birthday either with my ex or my family members or some of my colleagues. But this year, my childhood friends have decided to plan me a surprise birthday party (although I already smell the scent of it a few days before as Poh Kuan kept on hinting me XD).
So here was how it went.
Poh Kuan came back from KL and asked for a gathering last Friday. So a few of us (Mevis, Leng, Ben, Fai) joined her for a small chat at The Browns Cafe. We spent a total of 3 hours together that night talking and talking non-stop.
The next day, it was a little unplanned. Poh Kuan went for a haircut at Mevis' saloon. It was Wesak Day (a festival celebrate by Buddhist every year where we bath the Buddha statue with flower water). Mevis' family also own a place where prayers like us can drop by to pray at her place and I hadn't go through the bathing Buddha ceremony. So Poh Kuan gave me a call, asked me to meet up at Mevis' saloon so that we can go bath the Buddha statue together.
I reached Mevis' saloon around 1pm. Then we called up Fai who just finished work, and again we sat down and had some bites after the ceremony, and chat for almost 3 hours.
The next day, we planned a trip to Taiping. The purpose of this trip was to visit a fortune teller. Fai picked me and Mevis up at around 1pm; whereas Ben picked up Poh Kuan and Leng at the same time. We reached the fortune teller's place at around 3pm and dang, the fortune teller was not around. We was told that he went back to China after Mevis poking around. Hence, end up we went to Taiping for Laksa then went back to Ipoh XD
But the day didn't end there. We reached Ipoh at around 6 due to the terrible traffic jam on the highway. We went to Ipoh Parade for a cup of Starbucks (cuz I need my caffeine to drug me awake), then Sushi King for dinner. After that, we went to Kinta Riverfront Hotel to check out those beautiful LED lights. It was my first visit, and I was amazed with the environment. Despite the hot weather, those lights are awesome! Imagine a couple walking under those beautiful lights, with the live band singing just opposite the river's cafe~
But but but, the night is still young (and FYI, it was Sunday night). We didn't want it to end just there as well. So we dragged our S to Denis Jazz Cafe --> An cafe introduced my a friend of mine with awesome and classic oldies sing by a gang of uncles. It's a very happening place as anyone can just go up there, grab themselves a guitar and sing something. This was the 2nd time we visit that place and those oldies sure was memorable:
1.) Elvis Presley - Green Green Grass Of Home
2.) Lobo - How Can I Tell Her
3.) Dan Hill - Sometimes When We Touch
4.) Stevie Wonder - I Just Called To Say I Love You
5.) Ronan Keating - When You Say Nothing At All
and more...
Counting back the hours we spent together that day, it was a total of 12 hours!
And here comes --> Monday night! Poh Kuan said she would love to go for a pizza at Michael's Angelos. I was supposed to call and make reservation but I failed to do this because of the full and packed schedule on my past weekends :p so ended up the place close every Monday (Dang!) So we shifted to Josephine, one high-end and great bistro. This time, Leng didn't join us, but we add 2 more friends in this event -- Siew Har & Rabbito! Rabbito came back from Kulai due to school holiday (she's a school teacher =) )
While we were chatting, suddenly Mevis and Ben brought in a box of doughnuts with Happy Birthday candles! I was so surprised! I know that they will celebrate my birthday for me but I didn't know how! It was a surprise! 12 different flavours of yummy and tempting doughnuts plus an awesome and satisfying meal treated by my lovely childhood friends! I gotta say that was the BEST birthday celebration! v(^.^)v
After the meal, we went to Friends Cafe for some drink. That day, we spent a total of 4.5 hours together.
Before I wrap up, I would like to indicate proudly that me and my childhood friends from different locations spent a total of 22.5 hours together for the past 4 days!
With all the hours spent with you guys, I honestly don't mind if there is no birthday celebration for me. Cuz I have you guys which are too good to be true~ Thank you for everything guys and you all are the BEST =)
*p/s: Thank you for the lovely necklace from Poh Kuan and artsie bracelet from Siew Har. Love you <3
