A few days ago, I told my mom that I would be
going to a foam pool party at Hard Rock Hotel Penang on December. My mom gave
me these words that inspired me to blog about. “Act your age!”She said.
Act your age?! Then I asked her, who determines
how we should act at what age. Seriously. Who told you that you
can have fun when you’re young, and you have to act all mellow when you pass
the age of 21? Most of the answers would be parents. But then who told your parents? Who told your parent's parents? No idea huh.
Older folks always tell me that at my age, I
should have settle down, with a husband and maybe a kid or two. I don't even know how to tame the kid inside me, so how the heck am I going to have my own kids? My
life would be a total kiosk if I follow what the older folks said!
There is always a kid inside us, no matter how
old we are. Yes, when we come to a certain age, naturally we will keep them down, or to say it in the other way - we grow up. But at what age should you grow up, it is not for others to decide.
If the kid still exists inside you even when you reach that certain
age, don’t try to force them down all the time. Release them, sometimes. Life
is too short to obey those unseen rules or to follow all those set cultures.
Have some fun!
And of course the fun that I’m talking about is the right fun,
like bungee jumping, theme parks those kind of fun. If the kid inside you thinks
that raping, robbing, taking drugs or to start a war are fun, then you might as
well ground and lock them up, like FOREVER!
So next time, when someone tells you to act
your age, tell them: I am acting my age, just not in a dull and lame way as
yours. No offence.
